The Story
Our clients wanted to make some minor improvements to their recently purchased mid-century modern home in West Seattle while maintaining the original character and style.
Enhancements to the house included adding a built-in breakfast nook in the kitchen and built-in shelving in the den that disguised the existing fireplace without removing it. More natural light was brought into the main living space by adding a picture window and large skylight in the center of the living room.
Outside of those changes, our clients wanted to remodel their dated guest bathroom to create an inviting space for visiting family and friends while adding some fun design elements. The home had an intact original bathroom that featured pink tile and we wanted to take in some of that inspiration into our design. In addition, our challenge was to use the existing bathroom space efficiently and add more items that included a large soaking tub, double vanity, and private toilet room.
Finish selections include handmade Fireclay tile in a beautiful burnt orange color called Bryce Canyon. The picket tile shape added some unique interest. Large format terrazzo tile flooring and a simple quartz countertop allowed the orange tile to take focus. The double vanity we designed with Kerf Design adds a playful touch and a series of small cubbies are a perfect place for traveling guests to store their toiletries.
We had a great time working on this project and love the space we helped create with our clients. We are excited for the clients to enjoy their home for many years to come.
